Locks and security only keep honest people honest. If someone wants your bike, they're going to take it. The only thing you can do is hope your bike is less appealing to a thief. Having it locked up, in a well-lit area, under a cover, with a brightly-colored disc lock on it is a great start.
I personally use a bolt drilled into my concrete driveway, secured with cement epoxy, and a large (2.5 ton test) chain and lock around my front wheel with the forks locked. All of that is under a bike cover (mostly used to keep cats from using my seat as a scratching post).

I just pull it into my garage (yes I have a house) lock the forks and then lock my garage door. Other than that I dont see any reason to go further cause like posted above if a theif really wants it they are gonna take it no matter what it takes.

Agreed,. sadly its more a case of making bikes other than yours more appealnig marks, same way burgler alarm works.
The little b******'s carried mine off while I had a Police Officer in the House.
However there was a young man, not too far from here. Who just used to secure his 1000cc brand new sports bike using the steering lock.
He was so gutted when it inevitably went that he gave up most riding altoghter and now does the occasional weekend ride
A good chain is what you need when you are out. Be aware of where you are parking and lock it to something secure so the theirves at least have to get the tools out. Keeps all the but the hardened professionals off of it.

i wouldn't call my weekend rides occasional. i do it every weekend. it's a must.
i got 4K~~~ miles in 3 months. that's not bad for a weekend only rider.
