WoW that's alot of miles even with good care.
The bike I'm looking at is a 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 800 with 3000 miles and for $3,800 plus tax. Not the same bikes but I believe its similar in size for some general comparision for price vs miles.

VFR's are really good bikes, and the engines do last, but at 60K miles, I would probably give him between 2k-2.5k for it. I got my 94 VFR for $2500, but with 20k miles. (It wasn't running, but that was an easy fix).
Lots of VFR's go into the 100's, just make sure your valves are in spec.
EDIT: I noticed you just asked if this would be a nice starter bike..
I really wouldn't consider it a good first bike. It has a lot of power, and it weighs over 500lbs. It is a fantastic second bike.
The VFR800 has about 100hp to the rear wheels... definitely not a traditional beginner bike spec. (Not from asking people at this site anyway).
If you have spent time on the bike, as well as his R1, you will probably be ok as long as you are really responsible and watch your throttle hand... but no one can really answer that question except you.

thanks for the quick replys. i really like the vfr...its not as nice as the r1 but, you go with whats given to ya. so should i just look around for another bike because of the hondas milage. i thought it would be nice just for the simple fact it was so cheap. do you think its a good deal

Good deal? Depends on how well its been looked after, regular oil changes, etc.
I would pass on it for a first bike. A Ninja 500 or GS500 is a better choice.
Have you checked insurance for different models??? That may help you make up your mind!
