Not enough info to go on. I paid $1900.00 cash for an '84 NightHawk 700SC two years ago, but it was in extraordinary condition and had brand new (NOS) bodywork from Great Britain. Was that a good deal? To me it was, 'cause the bike was clean with low miles and looked almost new.

Kelly Blue Book lists a 99 vfr at 5000$, so my question is, why did he paint it? And... does it have a clean title. The price seems very low. Maybe the he just wants to get rid of it, but it is possible that the bike has been wrecked and has a reconstructed title.
Ask the owner about the title and if the bike has been wrecked. See what kind of reaction and response you get.

That's less than I'll have on mine in seven years of ownership.

the bike originally came from florida. my friend (who bought the bike) said the owner in florida rode it almost everyday to work and back. i saw the bike before it was painted and it wasnt in bad shape, it had a few scrathes here and there but nothin major. my friend had never laid the bike down but im not sure about the owner before him. i know the bike runs good because ive rode it many of times. im just not sure if i should spend the money on this bike or just wait and save for a better bike. thanks for the responses

The VFR is one of the best bikes you can get. It is a great all-arounder. I know I already posted in the thread you made in the newbie section, but if you are worried about whether or not it is a good bike, I wouldn't.
It is a fantastic bike! Like I was saying in the other thread, I feel that it is too much for a first bike, but since you have spent time on it already, you will probably be alright as long as you play it smart/safe.

60K is MAJOR Mileage for may bikes it is past their serviceable life.
This guy is asking pretty heavy money for a bike with high miles, does he have a service record.
You need to see proof of swingarm bearing replacement, be sure the steering stem bearings have been inspected, replaced or serviced, valve adjustments, etc. Many brake and suspension components dont have a 60K life.
You can get a great bike for $3-5000 K and lower with low miles.
For example a 600 or 1200 Bandit with 5-7K miles,
SV650, probably 03 model low miles,
Katana 600 or 750
I checked the local used bike dealer (largest in SE US)
hes got
CB919 4300miles $5000
VFR800 11,000 miles $5500
VTR1000 4100 miles $5500
Katana 600 2001 4800 miles $4200
Katana 600 1999 6000 miles $3900
2000 SV650 10,000 miles $3800
2000 SV650 8600 miles $3800
2003 Katana 600 30 miles !!!!!!!!!!!!!! $4800
2000 Kawasaki Z750 bad a** with 3500 miles for $3900 ( a smoking deal, 97 HP stock Schweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Take your pick all better buys.

I wanted to add for all the interceptor owners, this bike is a SUPER bike. I am a Honda owner, have owned many. SUPER reliable bikes, I think Honda is the highest quality overall. But 60K CAN ( may be) near the end of this bikes life, depends on the kind of $ the owners spent taking care of this baby.
Be sure, wait or spend a few more bucks, you will be much happier.
