Guess I posted this in the wrong area, so I'm reposting it over here.

Hi all. I am new the world of biking. I've been a passenger before, but never in the driver's seat. I am a 40 year old female nursing student/wife/mother. My husband just got himself a bike and is out with his mistress as I am typing (a '99 Triumph Trophy). We have two children, ages 10 & 15.

I've been looking at various bike options for myself, but decided to take the old 1987 Rebel 450 that's in my inlaw's garage. It's been garage-kept and in mint condition and I got it for a song. I go to pick it up in a couple of weeks and will post pics. I take my motorcycle class first weekend in June. We live in northern Virginia and one of my first long rides will be up into the Skyline Drive. I just purchased a helmet for myself and I'm ready to go!

I am hoping to be a part of a riding club around here, as we live in the scenic Shenandoah Valley and there are many riding clubs. I look forward to meeting many of you fellow bikers on the road.

Anything you care to tell me about my "new" bike is icing on my cake. I can't wait!!!.

Congratulations, Christal!

You may already know, but your Rebel 450 is a pretty rare bike. The 250's are pretty common, but the 450 I think was only made for a year or two. I'm sure you are going to love riding. I've been you your area of VA, and I know there are some breathtaking rides over there.

I think you'll find this an excellent place to hang out when you can't be out riding. Thanks for introducing yourself, and enjoy the forums!
