hi there, i have a few question about engine oil, in my owner manual the engine oil that recommended is 10w 40, but it did not mention mineral, semi synthetic or fully synthetic

1. can i just use a mineral engine oil 10w 40 ( coz it cheap)
2. the different between semi and fully synthetic 10w40

my bike is a 1986 suzuki gsx750s (pop light)..

Use whatever type you like, so long as it's made for motorcycles.

The manual should also list what type - not only the weight. API SG, JASO MA, or whatever like that. So if you want to go to a synthetic, just make sure all your numbers and letters are comparable.

go to www.amsoil.com and purchace the Amsoil Synthetic Motorcycle Engine Oil 10W40 and use that in ur bike. Next feel the BIG difference it makes, cooler running engine, quiet engine, smoother shifting and a 5 to 20MPH higher top speed

I know so many people who rave about amsoil, so what exactly makes it different? and why doesn't every other oil company have the same kind of product?

I did notice a difference going from dino to Mobil-1, but haven't noticed any change going from Mobil-1 to Amsoil other than having to wait a week for the Amsoil to come by mail.

Thats great advice there bud changing your oil increases your top speed by changing the gear ratio in your transmission.

I started using Amsoil in my bike. Huge difference from dino-oil. I haven't tried other synthetics, so my comparison with other synthetics is nil. The cost is a little bit more than the big boys like Mobil 1, Castrol, Valvoline, etc, but it's quite readily available on the shelves of multiple automotive part stores in my area.

Amsoil is based out of a little town called Superior, Wisconsin. Its manufacturing and corporate office is right accross the bridge from me (2 miles). They're small and want to remain small. I have a couple of co-workers who used to be employed with them as mechanical engineers. Quite knowledgable about the research and development of their products, imo.

Personally, I'm sold on it and it's readily available for me. In other regions, it has to be mail-ordered. I absolutely hate their advertising tactics. It looks cheap and very...Amway feel. Oh well, I'm happy with their motorcycle and automotive lubes.
