I laid it down!!!

Well, tonight I was out riding, went to gas up in a station. Everything was ok, I gased up, went to exit the station and a car was coming in. Everything seemed ok, I went to stop and give the car right of way and then.... my shoe lace got caught on the gear lever...I got startled when my foot didn't hit the ground. I immediately knew I was going down, so I did my best with my right legg to lay down the bike. Fortunately, I was at a dead stop, so I was able to gently put it on it's side.

Nothing broke on myself or the bike (well, except for a slightly bruised ego). Nothing was bent and, as far as I can see, no scratches on my baby.

Lesson learned: GET A NEW PAIR OF RIDING BOOTS!!!

P.S. I'm amazed at how easy it was to pick up the bike!!! It was down on the ground maybe 5 seconds, but, once up I had to wait a couple of minutes so it would start. But it started and everything felt and looks ok.

Umhm, that's why I got a new pair of boots - the stories of laces getting caught.

Glad you and your bike are ok, and thank goodness you were in a relatively safe area for putting the bike down...could have been a real busy intersection.

Take care and get some no-lace boots! :D

No lace boots definately. You're not the first by far and you won't be the last.

it's ok... i like to stay in the 130lbs range.

nice power to weight ratio.

some people spend lots of money to shave 40lbs of their bike instead reducing their own weight.

Nice power to weight ratio? Doesn't sound like it ;)

If you put on 15 pounds of muscle (that's a hell of a lot to put on, but it's doable) you'd solve your "can barely pick up the bike" problem as well as your "need new suspension" problem

You don't need loads and loads of muscle. If you power the bike right, you don't need bulk. In fact, that's why power is power training and strength is strength training. Its all in how you move the weight.
