Stupid Rider

So I'm leaving the dealership after picking up a new head gasket and checking out both the M50 and the Vstrom when I had my first altercation with a fellow rider.

I was starting to turn right out of the parking lot and he was coming from the right towards the dealer with his turn signal on. I saw him, but didn't think much of it because there was no way our paths would meet.

OK

That was wrong.

Instead of coming up the entrance to the parking lot and turning, he started veering out of his lane 20 feet before the intersection. You might ask why would someone dart across the oncoming lane of traffic right in front of a Jeep coming out of a parking lot? That's stupid, that's silly... well folks, that gave him a straight shot to the bike parking in front of the store. Otherwise he'd have to turn twice, once into the lot and once in the direction of the bike parking which is more dangerous (his words).

Anyway- I managed to slam on my brakes, and he has the nerve to honk and me and give me the finger. Seeing no one behind me I backed up and went over to talk to him b/c I just had to know WTF.

So as I walk up to him he says
"You don't have to apologize."
so of course I say
"Why would I apologize, you were the one riding like an "O Ring". Why the hell would you drive on the wrong side of the road in front of a car coming out of a parking lot"
him- "Are you kidding? That was perfectly legal and it's alot safer. otherwise I'd have to turn twice, once to get into the lot and again to turn towards the spot, and that's alot more dangerous you'd know that if you were a biker"

I could have made a bigger incident of it but sometimes things just slide into the ridiculous so I told him to say hi to darwin for me and left. It didn't look like he understood that.

Lol, some people are just stupid. At least most of the time, when people pull idiotic stunts like that, they know they're doing something wrong. It's funny that this guy not only tried to justify his stupidy, but also flipped you off.

I would've taken my helmet and smashed him on the bridge of the nose and as he was going down, I would've kneed him righ in the already broken nose and smashed his teeth on the curb and then kicked his freakin' bike over! :x

No.

You wouldn't have done any of those things.

Me, I would have said something along the lines of "You know, when I'm on my bike I don't "pee" myself when I have to make a turn. Good luck with that thing, I think you'll need it."

 I hope you didn't think I was for real! Last physical altercation I've been in was about 34 years ago back in Junior High

"Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience."

Some people are truly clueless when it comes to riding and driving. They've got these insane notions of what is "legal" (which are usually wrong) and don't stop to think that what they do could easily get them killed.

I think I posted a few months back about witnessing an auto accident. The gal that caused all of the trouble was trying to explain to a cop that when she turned on her turn signal, it meant that everyone on the road was obligated to get out of her way. She truly and seriously believed that this was the law and drove accordingly. By now I'm sure her insurance company and a judge have probably explained otherwise, but who knows what other wacky notions she's got in that head of hers. Scarey that people like that are in control of multi-ton machines.
