I am new to the forum just joined yesterday and thought I would post here as well.

My hubby has been after me for years to learn to ride. He has been riding for years and loves it. I finally decided to go for it and he bought me a 2004 Kawasaki Ninja 250. So far I am loving it. I am taking the MSF course next month and looking forward to it. I have ridden a total of four times now and got it into 3rd gear for the first time last night.

My hubby is great!! He has been teaching me and making me do some of the stuff they made him do in his course like push the bike (that was not fun). He has been very patient with me.

I am looking forward to talking to you all and learning from you as well.

Hi DeeDee

Congratulations! I have just started riding myself, and am the proud owner of a Ninja 500, I'm sure you will love your 250. Are you going to use your own bike in the class? I don't know about your states MSF but we had this u-turn box we had to maneuver our bike around and it was hard for me-still passed though. I tried the box with my Ninja and it was even more difficult! I thought it might be from the higher center of gravity(MSF bike was a Honda Nighthawk)?? Just mentioning this in case you were thinking of using your own-does this make sense to anyone else out there?
Anyway good luck and have fun!!!

Hi Darsek

No I wasnt plamming on using my bike. Hubby said just use theirs. But i am leaning toward taking it because I am leary of trying to get use to a new bike even for just the two riding sessions. I a sure it will be a good learning experience for me either way.

I ride as much as I can. I love my new bike. I think I drive my poor hubby crazy wanting to ride all the time.. Not sure what the class will entail all I know is there are two nights of classoom and two saturdays of on bike.

Hi Ladies and :welcome2:
You will be riding 250's or less I think for the MSF course. The only class that allowes you to ride your own bike that is offered here in NC is for advanced riders to my knowledge. The MSF instructers will put you on a bike similar to what you will be riding (hopefully) or what you already own. Lots of luck to you!! :biker:

Well I talked to hubby about taking my bike for the mfs course. He said use theirs. So I guess I will be using theirs.

I took her out again last night for the 5th time. Was so awesome. I was a little nervous at first after the incident with that guy the night before that was messing with me. But once I got going again it was great. I got her into third gear and was riding at all of 30mph lol. Felt alot faster to me. Hubby said it was slow to him. I am getting better at the shifting and actually managing to make sure she is in first when I stop though a few times I didn't. I will get it it just takes practice. Hubby said next he is gonna teach me cornering. Not sure I am ready for that as I down shift to first and putt around the turns here in my neighborhood lol. I am sure once I start though it will be ok.

Have a great day

I'm always happy to hear other ladies so excited about riding. I just started, too. Took the MSF Beginner's last weekend. You will have so much fun and the confidence you gain on a borrowed bike is so much greater.
I got my bike up to 3rd gear the other day, too. It felt plenty fast enough for me, ha! I only just got my tags yesterday so I haven't left my neighborhood yet.
Welcome to the forum. Keep us posted!

We are going to get the tag for mine tonight lol. I haven't left the neighborhood yet either. It is great though and yes was plenty fast enough for me. Hubby has been great and very patient. I still have to wait til next month for my MSF course. The course was booked for this month :(

My sister in Virginia got bumped from her class last month, because they overbooked. She has to wait 3 whole weeks for the next open spot. Maybe the heat of summer kept people away until now. It's cool that classes all over seem to be full. We want as many educated riders out there as we can get. I had such a good experience with my class I might try to be an instructor some day. Only if it doesn't interfere with my riding, of course!
Hey, don't forget to check out the Ladies' Lounge forum, too. Lots of friendly people there, as well.
