Which one is in better shape (cosmetics and mechanics)? Which one is your favorite?

you know cosmetically they are both very equal. Ive had the cx 500 for 5 years and it runs good. I got the cb 550 last fall and it runs good. i like different things about both of them. I like the smooth accelaration of the four and i like the comfort of the cx. I dont know. Which bike is more dependable all in all? the cb needs a head gasket but runs good. The cx has low compression equal on both cyllinders but runs good and doesnt smoke. and i have a complete running parts bike for the cx. well it was running till i sold the gas tank and side covers on ebay. HELP i have trouble parting with things.

If you looking for a nudge, I'd sell the CB550. It was an ok bike of it's time but nothing special like the CX was. Altought they did improve on the CX with the 650 version, the 500 wasn't bad at all, just the cam timing chains gave them issue. If the compression is really dropping on the CX then that would make my choice to sell the CX as a ring and bore job isn't fun or cheap to do.

First adjust the valves on the CX and if that does not fix the problem sell it. You will put more into the bike than it is worth. If it fixes it sell the CB. The CX is the better of the two.
