Hi, new to the board and just got my first bike, but before I get on main roads with my bike, I should take the M.S.F course. I was just wondering how much the course cost?

it depends on where you are. some states it's free.

here in CA, it's around 200+ is you're over 21yo and 100+ under 21yo.

Yup - what he said. In Ohio it was only $25! Free for those under the age of 18. You can check with your state's department of motor vehicles to find out if the MSF course if offered through them. If so, they should be able to provide you with all the information to get you started. If they don't sponsor the MSF course, they should at least know who does (sometimes it's offered through area community colleges).

Here in Florida is was $250, you use thier bike and you can use one of thier helmets if you don't have one. You have to have the rest of the gear.

$180 in Texas... set by TDOT. They supply the bike and helmet, but you need the rest.

25$ in michigan they supply the bike you supply the rest . I borrowed the helmet from my brother-in-law .

I paid $250 in New Jersey but it was free if you went through the state.

In Va it's anywhere from $70 for some state sponsored schools to $350 at the place I'm going to be teaching. They've never had an empty seat though.

Free in Illinois ($20 refundable deposit), but there are tons of people that sign up and classes usually are full.
You might be able to get in on stand by, but there are tons of people there......like standing in line for free govnt'cheese ( anyone grow up poor like me?)

In Maryland, its $175 at the Motor Vehicle Administration offices that offer it.

I took my class at a community college and it cost $299. Thats the way it is at most Community colleges in MD
