So, I'm about to start a new job Oct. 16, doing tech support for IBM Thinkpads at a call center. While not the highest paying, or most interesting job, it will be a steady paycheck, that I can rely on. Which means.... wait for it..... NEW MOTORCYCLE SOON!!!!

Awesome, congrats. Can I have your old bike? lol
Have fun at the job, it doesn't sound all that entertaining, though. I'd think you'd have to put up with a lot of ignorance/stupidity when dealing with customer's of that caliber.

Probably. My last two jobs were supposed to pay more, and were more interesting, but the first one ended up not paying me, they still owe me $1100, and the second one kept cutting my hours. So I'm excited about this job simply because I know I'll be getting a steady paycheck.

I've been teetering between getting a 599 or a 919, and I can't figure out which. I like the added power of a 919, but I like the agility of the 599. I like the styling of both. I like the picetag on the 599, but I may be going two-up occasionally, and don't know how well a 599 would handle a combined passenger weight of about 300lbs. Any opinions?

I believe (but not positive) that the 599 is around the 90 HP range witch will pull 300 lbs.without any problem.

Ugh...I hate calling the tech desk. I know you are just doing your job but sometimes it drives me nuts.
I once called to file a warranty claim on a printer. One the rollers had literally snapped off the spindle inside the printer and it was within the warranty period but even after explaining the defect, the tech made me go through their 'Diagnostic Procedure' starting with asking me if the printer was on, and trying to run test pages! Hello! The cracked roller is on my desk! It must have taken me 15 minutes going through his procedures before he confirmed that there was a mechanical defect that could not be fixed over the phone, and I should mail it back for a new one

As long as they can speak clear english i don't mind calling tech support. Besides, when calling about a warrenty thing, i just say "I need to speak to your supervisor" because they usually have actual knowledge of the inner workings of the system (in this case my old dimension 8200) and don't read off a sheet to tell me everything I've already done.
