Hello folks

I've been lurking on the forums for a few weeks, but I figured why not just sign up. I'm 28 and I've always wanted to learn how to ride a motorcycle, but I never have. I will be taking the course in May and then, if I enjoy it, buying a bike and spending a lot of free time using it. :)

May feels like a long ways off right now, but I've been using my time learning all I can on this forums and I plan on picking up a good motorcycle book to read over the Michigan Winter. So far I'm leaning towards the Kawasaki Vulcan 500, but I have plenty of time to worry about that later, I just need to focus on the basics first.

OK, hello again, and if I don't really post again until I take my course and get a bike I'll just say thanks right now for the useful information on these forums, on this site, and to the civil and friendly topics of all kinds. :D

May is a VERY long way off. I hope you don't go out of your mind before then, hee hee.
What are you reading this winter? I could suggest a few books off the top of my head: Rebuilding the Indian (I forget the author), Peter Egan's Leanings and Leanings 2, and Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough.

 from NC!
An EXCELLENT read is Proficient Motorcycling by David L. Hough. The binders on this book aren't the greatest...but if you put it in a three hole notebook it works great! You won't be disappointed!

Thanks a lot for the welcome. :D I'm going to be ordering Proficient Motorcycling from Amazon today or tomorrow (along with The Zombie Survival Guide :P ), mainly going by what people on here have said about the book. Sounds like a good read. I did notice the reviews on Amazon saying the binding just falls apart... that's too bad.

And heck yes May is a long ways off! I can't help but look at bikes every time I'm online, and a guy from work stopped over today with his bike and that didn't help! Oh well, I'll just keep thinking how I'll have the entire Summer next year to practice, practice, practice, and hopefully gain enough experience to go on some rides.
