I have been lurking around here for a week or two, and figured i would chime in and introduce myself.

Ive called Oregon my home since i was born here in 1988. I recently purchased a 1986 Yamaha FZ600 from a buddy of mine for $200 as a little project bike to tool around on in my spare time. It was a pretty good deal i thought because mechanically the bike is sound besides a few little things here and there. The only thing that it needs really is new plastic, rubber, paint, and a few other minor details that are easily fixed (hopefully). I have yet to call the local DMV to get information regarding the MSF course if oregon even has one. In my book, that is gonna be priority #1.

If there are any oregon riders here that have done the MSF course here, it would really be greatly appreciated to chime in and give any information you have about it. Thanks in advance, and ill see you guys on the road!

Oh, I did a little searching around on the MSF website and came up with only one location for your state. But there may be more, I know for my city there was another place that wasn't listed on there but was MSF approved.

I know some community colleges offer MSF riding courses, and if there is a Harley davidson dealership in your area they might have the "Riders Edge" Program, which is a MSF rider course. I think they even give a discount for accessories and clothing you buy after you take the course.

Also, alot of the MSF classes will provide a helmet if you do not yet own one. But they may require you to have footware that covers the ankle, and a long sleeved shirt or jacket to protect your arms (you'll only be riding up to 14-18mph in their course). If the helmet thats provided, or you bring with you, dosn't have a DOT approved saftey visor... they might ask to bring some saftey glasses/goggles also. Something that wont shatter and get in your eyes upon impact.[/url]
