rust on chrome

I've got an old bike (67 honda s90) that I'm trying to restore. It's in pretty good shape, but there is some spot rusting on the chrome parts (rim, tank, exhaust, etc) The rust comes off easy enough with a soft wire brush, but is there some way that I can keep the rust from coming back without re-chroming everything?

I've got a bottle of TurtleWax chrome polish that claims to seal the surface and prevent corrosion. You could give that a try.

I always put a coat of Mothers polish or similar on.It supposed to keep it from returning as easily.

wire brush?

I always used fine steel wool for this... then again I've never heard of a 'soft' wire brush;)

I forget exactly what it's made out of, but it attaches to a dremel, and is designed for silver jewelry. It does an excellent job of taking the rust off without scratching the chrome :) Found it at sears
