Making a 90 degree turn onto side street, saw the insignificant patch of fallen leaves, so i slowed right down to what i thought was slow enough - front wheel slid anyway like on ice. Don't know how I stayed up, but it was very close to being my first drop 'incident'.

Y'all be careful on dem leaves.

Leaves are very slippery. Wet leaves are even more so. Same goes for grass clippings. Both build up under the tire and just like hydroplaning. No tire contact on the road at all. They can be worse than ice, actually.

First time down

I went down on a curve to a stoplight. There was some antifreeze in a large area I could not avoid. I went down so fast I don't even know what knocked the wind out of me. I think it was the handle bar. I can't even imagine what it would be like going down faster than 10 mph. I was very lucky. My ribs still hurt after 3 weeks. Watch out for shiney stuff and wear long sleeves!!
