I was just GIVEN a 1981 Yamaha.
It looks to be a Maxim, of some size: but how can I tell exactly?
The side plates have been "replaced" and show nothing.
Is there anumber somewhere that would show the CC's?
inline 4
shaft drive
thx!

The engine cases should be stamped 748cm3, or something like that. Barring that, the plate on the steering head should tell you....

Like Highside sez, the engine displacement in listed in cubic-centimeters on the cases, and on the 1980s series Yamahas the serial # will reveal the complete info to a dealer (year, engine size, model). Check the stamp on the steering stem of the frame, and on the engine as they should be identical unless the engine has been swamped. It's a three letter/number combo and then 6 digits for the rest i.e. something like "4E3-001600", or "4H1-000422", etc...
The inline four engine is used in Seca and Maxim models... either a 550, 650 or 750 during that year.

thanks lads.
I should be getting the key tonight, so I'm also told that the info I'm looking for is under the seat.
Cheers!
