So I went down to a local shop and tried on a couple leather jackets, and the XL felt a little tight. I'm a relatively big guy (6'3" 210 Pounds) and XL is the normal size for a t-shirt/jacket/sweatshirt/etc for me. Is it supposed to be a little snug, or should I go up to an XXL? I'm probably going to purchase this jacket online, and I wanna make sure that it's gonna fit so I don't have to send it back or anything.

you should try it 1st at a local bike shop if you don't wanna go through the hassle on exchanging it if it doesn't fit right.

if your local bike shop doesn't have it then you have no choice but to just go by their sizing chart.

personally, i have picked my gear based on just their sizing chart and i got the fit i can get from an off-the-shelf model. im 5'9" but only 130lbs so my gear fits me just fine right in terms of lenght... but not much in terms of width.

The key thing is that it allows you plenty of arm movement. If it is just "snug" around the torso, it is probably about right. Leather tends to conform to your body as you wear it and it will feel more "right" after you have worn it a while.

I ended up going up two sizes with my jacket from what I normally wear. The jackets in my size were jsut to snug around the chest and I didn't have enough arm movement. We went and tried on jackets at a motorcycle shop about an hour away from where we live. They had all the different manufacturers we were looking at and we figured what size i would need for each one so when I found a jacket I liked we new what size to get.

You also want to look at what you'll be wearing under the jacket.

In the winter, I don't want to wear my (usually wet) bike jacket around so I'll have a sweater or sweat shirt underneith. If the jacket doesn't have a liner in it then you'll probably want to wear something inside anyway.

I have a Joe Rocket Balistic jacket (with liner) that is one size bigger than my normal jackets and it fits just right. In the summer it's nice to have the extra space inside to help ventilate as well.

Keep the same advice in mind if you go looking for pants as well.
