Hands hurt

#1 Unread post by silentx »

Hey guys.. I'v been riding my bike and i have about 2 hours under my belt

When you first started ride bikes does your hand ( palm area and fingers) start hurting after a while? Is it because of my protecitve gloves..?

Or am I holding the handle worng?

Before you start yelling " go take the MSF"

I am going to take it next weekend.. but I am riding the bike around the block for now....

I bet your neighbors are hating you...lol. Not sure about the gloves you're wearing, but for my dirtbike and mountain bike, the gloves have thin padding on the palms where your weight rests on the handlebars. I've never had any problems out of them.

Shouldn't hurt. Are you holding them like you would a bike?

Maybe you just need callouses or something. Like when starting a guitar.

Silent, you remind me of myself. I rode around the block and stuff before I could take the MSF as well :) . My hands got sore at the beginning too, but I think that is because your muscles need to adjust for riding and you might just be gripping the handles tightly. Just give it some time and try loosening your grip on the handle bars.

Hey,
My hands hurt for the first couple of days.
Trying to relax your grip helps, but I think the body adjusts anyway.
cheers.
Kick to start.

Your muscles that you have never used for riding are now getting used pretty good - they're sore and need to get in shape. Also, relax your grip on the bar, fatigue plays a big factor.

The day after my first two practices my forearm was sore. Just from working the clutch. My right arm is used to pulling the whole load, so luckily nothing else hurt.

As for the day I did the cone weaving my obliques also got real tight and cramped on me near the end

New riding is draining, both physically and mentally as you're mind and body are highly active and alert trying to keep you alive and upright.

Like all said, you'll get used to it and your hands wont hurt anymore. My hands still get 'numb' after riding for a few hours straight since I'm only used to taking 30-mile jaunts.
