A motorcycle poker run to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County is planned Sunday. The event starts in Camarillo and goes to Santa Barbara before ending at the Ventura County Fairgrounds for an afternoon of food, live bands, contests and a motorcycle show.
Registration for the ride starts at 8 a.m. at V-Twins in Camarillo. Subsequent stops on the run are Tailgaters in Ventura; Cabo's in Carpinteria; Paradise Store in Santa Barbara; and Moto Loco in Santa Barbara. The ride will end at approximately noon.
Cost to enter is $50 for riders; $25 for second riders on the bike.
Those wishing to go to the fairgrounds only can pay $10 for adults and $7 for children 10 and younger.
The proceeds will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters, a nonprofit organization that provides children from single-parent families with a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult volunteer. Each carefully screened volunteer gives a child time, friendship and understanding under the guidance of a professional caseworker. The program serves boys 8-14 and girls 6-14. A school based mentoring program is offered at school sites in Fillmore, Newbury Park, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, and Santa Paula.
Advance registration for Sunday's run can be made at V-Twins in Camarillo. For more information, call 484-2282, ext. 23, or visit http://www.thebigrun.com.
