just recharged battery and set in bike, all started up fine and runs. shut off bike, pulled out key and taillight remained on. squeezed brake levers, still light is on, seems there is a direct contact but i need some help figuring out what to do. all this bike did was sit in gargae all winter, we have not done a thing to it except remove and put back in a fuse. i had to diconnect battery to get light off.

any helpful hints or suggestions?

sure you didn't accidentally turn the key too far to the left and put the bike in 'Park' mode? This will shut the bike off, but still leave the taillight on.

I've almost done it myself because it's such an easy turn of the key.

Yes you can still remove the key in park.

i iwll look into that as one option and accept any other suggestions, i am at work so will have to check that when i get home

hmm I have the same problem. i thought only the UK versions were supposed to have a park mode.

Buells have Park mode - it is AFTER the fork lock opsition

Discovered the park mode on the US Triumph I picked up last week. Went for a walk and when I returned, it was dark enough to discover the light was still on.

indeed when i went home i checked to see if the bike was in park and it was, so that was the reason for the rear light on! This is my buddy's bike stored at my house over the winter and we had just loaded the battery in and were not familiar with the bike.

I can't make that mistake because my bike only has OFF and ON.

Of course, the mistake I made was not turning it off or removing the key.

D'oh!

Lucky it didn't get stolen, but then, after a few minutes it couldn't have got stolen anyway...or started by the owner and ridden home...
