Monday, October 23, 2006 - Harley-Davidson Press Release - Total Motorcycle - www.totalmotorcycle.com
On October 20, the Harley-Davidson Motor Company will make its final contribution of the year to the Tom Joyner Foundation. This contribution will be given at the Tom Joyner Sky Show in Atlanta in the amount of $10,000.
Harley-Davidson has attended six Sky Shows this year (in Raleigh, N.C.; Detroit; Kansas City; Washington D.C.; Philadelphia and now Atlanta) and has contributed a total of $60,000 to the Tom Joyner Foundation. At each Sky Show, H-D has also given away leather jackets and Rider's Edge certificates to audience members. In addition, local dealerships and Motor Company employees have attended each show. Executives such as Bill Evers, Director of Dealer Development; Dave Bozeman, General Manager, Capitol Drive; and Harold Scott, Vice President of Human Resources have presented the $10,000 checks to Tom Joyner during the shows.
The Tom Joyner Foundation supports Historical Black Colleges and Universities. Each month the HBCU designates a different school that will distribute the donation through scholarships to students with financial difficulties completing their education. This month's college of choice is North Carolina A&T.
The Tom Joyner Morning Show is a popular morning radio show in the African American community. The "Sky Show" is a live broadcast of the Tom Joyner Morning Show, which is done in front of a live audience, featuring a national recording artist or group. There are currently 20 Sky Shows each year taking place in a different city.
