Yamaha, Honda launch new motorbikes in Vietnam

(SGT-HCMC) Yamaha Motor Vietnam and Honda Vietnam have marketed their latest motorbikes with fresh designs aimed at attracting customers.
The Yamaha Mio Classico scooter, which hit the streets of HCMC on Saturday, comes with a classic design and an automatic four-stroke114cc engine.
Takahiko Takeda, chairman and general director of Yamaha Motor Vietnam, said he believed that the classically stylish scooter, the new version of the Mio launched in 2003, would be appreciated by those looking to a new life style.
The company is looking to turn out some 5,000 units a month and sell some 60,000 units next year.
The scooter with the color options of black, red, blue and turquoise is quoted at VND21 million, including VAT.
Yamaha Motors Vietnam, which is 46% owned by Yamaha of Japan, 30% by Vietnam Forestry Corporation, and the rest by Hong Leong Industries of Malaysia, has registered steady growth in recent years.
Its revenue was over US$300 million in 2005 compared to US$250 million in the previous year, US$159.77 million in 2003 and US$94.1 million in 2002.
Meanwhile, Honda Vietnam yesterday launched a high-class and fashionable motorcycle model, Wave 100S.
The new model is the combination of Wave RS and Future Neo, which have been appreciated by Vietnamese customers.
The Wave 100S sells for VND17.5 million, VAT included and its market debut marks the 10th anniversary of Honda Vietnam.
