Bill from New Hampshire

Hi All, I am just returning to motorcycles after a 20 year layoff ( and the wife ain't to happy) A bad wipe out (in her eyes) ended my first 10 years of riding. In those days I mostly rode a Yamaha RD 350 made into a all out Cafe racer ( no GSXR, CBR-RR, FZR's then) and many miles on a 1975 Suzuki RE5 rotory, heavy, but handled nice, also a maint nightmare. Had a few other small bikes along the way. To "relearn" I have found a 1974 Honda CB350F in original cond, that just needs a good clean and tune-up after a 2 yr storage. Funny how much you forget after a 20yrs away. Guess better off to start small before moving up to a 750. Guess you just can't compare a 1975 CB750 to todays 750's. 30 years and toms of more H.P.! I'm glad to be back! Tks,Bill

:welcome: to TMW, Bill. 8) Isn't it great to be back to the world of motorcycles? I'm a returning rider myself, though I wasn't away quite as long as you. (6 years) I really missed riding, and with gas at $2.60 per gallon for regular, I finally have a practical reason.

Have fun getting that Honda fixed up. You've found the best place on the web to talk about riding.

Hi Bill,

Welcome to our community! It's always nice to see people come back into the sport and bring with them all their experience and lessons. I am sure you will be a great source for knowledge to all on the boards.

Hi Bill
My wife was with me years ago when we went down. After a few years I had to start riding again and she was against it and said she whould never ride again. I bought a new 750 and two new helmets, brought it home and parked it in the garage. When I showed it to her she saw the helmets before she saw the bike and asked "who's the other helmet for". I told her it was for her if she ever wanted to use it. I started taking longer and longer trips. One weekend I told her I was taking a two day trip to a scenic area she had always wanted to go to. Beleave it or not she asked if she could go too. That was 25 years ago and we've been touring ever since.
Hang in there
