Riders make Run to the Rez Saturday

Motorcycle riders from the southwest will be in San Carlos Saturday, Nov. 4, for Run to the Rez.

Run to the Rez III is a motorcycle event that is sponsored by local Apache riders and Apache Gold gambling to kick off the Veterans Day weeklong celebration. Over 300 riders are expected to participate.

There will be an Apache Veterans Honor Run from the gambling to the Tribal Administration beginning at 10 a.m. Riders will ride in to San Carlos Avenue for a parade beginning at the San Carlos Post Office to the Tribal Administration at approximately 10:30 a.m.


There will be a Veterans Honor Ceremony in front of the Tribal Administration at 11 a.m. Guest speakers include Vietnam veterans Vernon James from San Carlos and Olson Nez from the Navajo Nation. Special recognition for World War II veterans from San Carlos and Bylas will be part of the ceremony. Organizers are asking all World War II veterans from San Carlos and Bylas to attend this special event.

San Carlos High School Apache Club will provide entertainment. Vendors wishing to sell arts and crafts or sell food may do so free. Set up will begin at 9 a.m.
