Can't ride in the winter. I was just wondering what you bike freaks do in the winter? Do you spend all day in ur garage shinning and cleaning ur bike, kissing it and spending long hours staring at it and daydreaming that ur riding it? My bike is in my garage, I have it covered with junk and it works as a great spot for leaning shovels, rakes and the weed wacker against it, the fuel from the weed wacker spilled out all over the seat on my bike. When it gets to the end of winter around Febuary or March, I tend to get that bike fever then I start cleaning up my bike and get it ready for another season. You guys that are married are you honest with ur wife and do you tell her that you love ur bike more than you love her? I was just wondering how you guys think and or is the way I think is normal.

I'll ride as long as there is no ice on the roads. Since I have to choice but to traverse housing developments with irrigation on timers that keeps puddles on the road even in August, that means no riding when the temperature is below freezing. I have plenty of room for storing shovels and weedwhackers that I don't use anymore since I have no yard to mow. That isn't a big deal since I live in an RV parked in a warehouse. I expect I won't ride much in January and February. I expect I'll use those months to tune, adjust, and accessorize.

As long as the road is dry and free of ice, I'll ride. That's what insulating layers and electric vests are for.

Outside of that, winter is tinker time - I (try) to get to work on the various rough mods and accessorizing that I did over the rest of the year to clean them up and make them look a little better. Fix what doesn't work, and see if I can improve on what does.

I'm stripping my down to the frame and rebuilding it one bit at a time.

Sure you can - buy a Ural like Gummenite. That is what I am going to do when I move to Colorado Springs.

There is nothing normal about the way you think.

In winter, there is always ice on my road, and my driveway (about 250 to the road) is like a skating rink - hubby once spun my convertible in the driveway! So, riding is kind of dicey getting to a nice dry road. But once on the "two lanes" it'd probably be ok. We will see. We wanted to start the tradition of a ride on New Year's Day. Kind of instead of the Polar Bears who dip in Lake george on NYD.

All winter?? We wil be in the 20 below zero range by January. I don't think I can do it on the bike. Besides, I have to ride my snowmobile somewhat...

This morning it was about 27, and a good coating of frost on the roads, all the way down into Scotia. On the bridge over to Schenectady, I saw the dude who rides every day on his bike. I think he had on an artic cat jacket! But he lives south of the Mohawk. I am about 20 miles north, and alot higher elevation... My jeep tires were slippy on the "two lanes".

Last winter, my 600 was in the dining room. And yes - I sat and looked at it, sat on it in my pj's, dusted and examined every inch. I don't think my 750 will fit through the front door, and this morning I had a little sob (was it becasue of the coating of white out there) thinking of the cold, cruel garage and poor, poor Candy

Do I love my bike more than hubby? Um...it's different. If I could give him up, I would.

But I would say I love my bike as much as I love my dogs. And I love my dogs alot!! I would never give up my bike or my dogs.

And I am thinking about a new front door....

This AM when i left for work, it was 21 degrees here in the suburbs of Chicago. cold!

As long as there is no snow on the road, i'm riding, but i just got my MC, so i think its my eagerness and excitement is keeping me going.

I totally dig my MC and know w/ some love, attention and caring, it'll do the same for me. I treat my MC way better than i treat my Jeep Grand Cherokee or Volvo S80 ( i think they are jealous- and i think at night, in the garage, they threaten to tip my MC over!).
