Motorcycle ride will benefit injured officer

TUSCALOOSA | A motorcycle ride benefiting Tuscaloosa Police Officer Shelby Rainey will be today at the Tuscaloosa Police Department.

The ride, which is open to anyone who wants to participate, including people without motorcycles, will begin at Tuscaloosa Police Department at 2 p.m. and end at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge at 3 p.m.

Registration at the police department will be at 1 p.m. and cost $20 per bike. T-shirts will be available for $10.

Rainey was struck by a vehicle while on duty on Sept. 26. All proceeds from the ride will go to his family to help pay for his hospital bills while he undergoes rehabilitation.
