Ninja ZX600

#1 Unread post by wickedrider »

Hi guys,
Thanks for all of your help and support. Now that I've taken a deep breath and calmed down (I want a different bike Baaaad), I have taken the advice of (SharpMagna? Super Magna?) and read the article suggested under the topic "Another Rookie needs 'Lots of Help".
Anywho, I am going to look at a 2001 Ninja ZX600 with approximately 10000 miles on it. What do you think about going from my super 1991 Honda CB250 Nighthawk to a Ninja 6. I really respect your opinions.

OK, lets add a 2000 ZR7 and a 2002 SV650S to the mix. What do you think?

the ZR-7 is a standard bike so it doesn't really fit in the comparison.

but i like the '01 ZX-6R compare to an '02 SV650S.

The ZR7 is another bike that was overlooked. Not great an anything but competent at a lot of stuff. Fun bike for twisties but won't compete with the hard core sportbikes. Makes a decent commuter. Light touring-no problem. I think Kaw even had hard bags for this bike but I may be wrong on that.

In short, a decent bike that you can put a lot of miles on. We almost bought one for my wife.

The SV and Kaw have been discussed enough on here so I won't get into them. Both decent bikes.
I would be the old, slow guy. Just let me know where you are going and I'll try to get there before you leave.

Where do you get this stuff? If it's one of the bikes he's considering, it fits by definition. There are enough differences between the ZX-6 and the SV to say that they wouldn't "fit" into a comparison.

The ZR-7 and the SV probably have more in common with each other than they do with the ZX-6. Have you ever ridden any of these bikes?

Try not to question Verm's line of thinking.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

The more you think you know... the less you actually do.

[looks up the specs]

ZR7 appears to be the defunct competitor of Katana 750. 4 cylinders, air cooled, very heavy, not very powerful, and only 5 speed transmission. Doesn't look like a good choice.
