Trail Of Tears Motorcycle Ride Gives Scholarship To UTC

The 13th Annual Trail of Tears Motorcycle Ride was held Sept. 16. This annual event is to commemorate those who suffered and perished during the Indian Removal Act of 1838, which history now commonly refers to as the "Trail of Tears."
Over 120,000 motorcycles participated in this three day event that traveled from Chattanooga to Okmulgee, Ok.
Scholarships are made available each year to Native American students from the sale of Trail of Tears merchandise. Bill Cason, originator of the Trail of Tears Motorcycle Ride, presented $20,000 to the university during half time activities between the UTC and Elon football game held Oct. 28.
Chattanooga State Technical Community College will receive $5,000 in scholarships.
The State of Alabama Scholarship program will receive $25,000 with another $2,500 to scholarships in the state of Oklahoma.
