how about a youtube tag?

A vtr250 forum I just checked out has a youtube tag which allows embedding of the video using the link.

example:
How about a tag like that? Or would that end up taking a lot of space or bandwidth?

Actually, it's easier than that, all you need is to just post the link:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=m_or2GtTq5A
you don't even need the [URL] tags for it to work.
...although you don't see the picture of the video in the message.
The biggest problem I have with editing the code of the forum is I need to take it down to do that, and there are on average 400 people on the forum at any given time each minute. Which is a GREAT thing, but hard to inconvenience everyone for a couple of hours to do code editing.

I would prefer not to have this tag, actually. The video may bring up something I particularly don't want to see, and slow down the page loading if there are videos trying to load up with it.
Mike, copy the boards into a test directory and then just upload the specific files when you have them ready to the real directory.

Oh, thanks Mike.
I admit, I like the youtube

and I normally do just post the link so that it ends up as per your example. The tag would allow embedding of the file to the post so the vid is right there, rather than just the link to the vid.
But I completely understand if its something that wouldn't run so well for the masses - just thought I'd toss it out there

I can't imagine how much bandwidth VermX and others could take up with that.

Or any member. When TMW gets 580,000 visitors a month it can easily get out of control and use a lot of costly bandwidth. Right now we use 680GB in bandwidth and serve over 6.5 million pages a month with an average page size of 75KB. I of course warmly welcome even more users to the site and the opportunity to serve even more pages a month as it means helping out even more riders around the world. But just adding more bandwidth to the bill could be deadly.
