New to the forum

#1 Unread post by roadrunner »

Hello, I am new to the forum and to biking in general. I was wondering what is a good starting sport bike for some one who is 6,4? Will I be comfortable on a 250 ninja? Any one with experence would be a great help.

sorry no sportbikes under 600cc here in US other than new hyosung GT250R.

but we have a sporty looking bikes like the ninja250/500 and GS500F. they're proven GREAT newbie bikes.

best way to find out is to visit your dealer and sit on a bunch of bikes.

i heard the ninja250 fits bigger people than the 500 bec of the difference in its design.

but really, go sit on different bikes.

good luck. :D

i was looking for that site.

yeah, they're selling them under their name.

check it out roadrunner. :D

IIRC, it has adjustable rearsets so it will help your larger frame.

it's a little too heavy though for a 250cc bike.

Don't worry about the weight of that 250. Compared to some sportbikes yes it's heavier, but it's not too heavy for a first bike.

There's a reason for the similarity. U.M sells rebadged Hyosung bikes. Same bike, different name.

From their press release earlier this year :
Hyosung Motors will manufacture OEM products for United Motors sold under the UM® brand in selected countries and markets around the world where UM has a strong distribution network, thus increasing Hyosung's overall production and revenues. In this cooperation, United Motors will design and develop high displacement motorcycles including a line of 250cc and 650cc sport bikes and cruisers manufactured by Hyosung Motors.

UM is something that I will look into. Never heard of them before this. The price seems a little low for a new bike. Any one have any experence on them? I am 102 miles from the dealership so would be nice to here something about them before I drove all the way over there.

They are new to the US market. Also have no proven record of reliability. With a minimal dealer network and unknown warranty service or parts availability I might tend to wait a while on these.
I would be the old, slow guy. Just let me know where you are going and I'll try to get there before you leave.
