The Magnas are great bikes. The V4 engine is very, very powerful for its size. It can easily outgun a cruiser bike in the 1400cc range. Also the V4 configuration has been around for a long while so it is very reliable.

Cons - The 3rd gen magna went to a chain drive so there is added maintenance. Also it is only 5 speed. The brakes are outdated if you ask me (drum brakes in the rear).

I love mine 8)

Shadow - Underpowered (IMO) V-Twin
Magna - Peppy V4

there are also some design cues that are different.. I prefer the magna designs way over the Shadow

I can personally vouch for the magna engine (since my 84 Interceptor had the same engine for the most part).

They have more power than a lot of bikes that are double their displacement. The magna was a little small for me when I rode one though.. other than that, very nice bike.

Yeah you could shoot me a PM, but posting gets you more exposure and insight from lots of people.

I bought my bike from a guy who was 6' and he said the bike was too small for him. I've ridden with another Super owner (6'2") and he has no problems on the bike (actually he's got a second bike as a project bike). I guess it all depends on what you want the bike for.

The 3rd gen Magna is a bit different from mine. It is a 5speed and chain driven at 750cc while my 87 is a 6speed and shaft driven and 700cc. The 50cc difference doesn't make a big deal in performance though.

Here is a site with some good info on the Magna: http://www.magnaownersoftexas.org/specs.htm

This site is dedicated to the "Super" Magna: http://supermagna.com/
