Where do you store your gear when leaving your bike?

I am already tired of carrying my helmet/gloves into Wal-Mart with me. I don't feel entirely safe leaving them on my bike (which is wierd, since I leave my car windows open all the time). What do you do with yours when you leave your bike?

I leave my helmet on the helmet lock and toss my gloves and glasses in my passenger backrest bag (or the saddlebag).

I always take my helmet in with me. If it gets stolen not only am I out the $, but then I can't legally ride home. Also, I don't trust kids being dumb and picking it up, trying it on, dropping it/knocking it over, etc. If I'm going in a store I just grab a cart or basket and put my helmet/jacket in there. Alternatively I put my helmet on my forearm and carry it like a purse.

At a store with carts, I get a cart and put my bike in the cart and push it around with me in the store. If it is a small store and I won't be long, or if the bike is easily in view, I will lock it to the bike.
One of my problems was recently I'd gone to a bike event in warm weather and was wearing full gear. I didn't want to carry my stuff with me, but didn't want to leave it at the bike either, since I didn't want to have to keep looking over at my bike. I think I'm going to buy a small cable lock so I can lock my pants and jacket to the bike, for just such and occasion.

Strong carts, doesn't you bike weigh like 500-600lbs? Who picks it up?

Duh - I can't believe I wrote that. I mean helmet.
I had to laugh though thinking of my bike in a shopping cart.

I get tired of it too, but I carry it anyway... When I have my saddlebags on, I can leave everything but my helmet in them, otherwise I just wear it in on me. [paranoid] I could use the helmet lock with my saddlebags off, but I just don't trust people around here.[/paranoid]
