Is a Sabre 1100 too much bike
Is moving up from a Honda 250 to an 1100 Sabre too much of a jump.

You mean like from a Rebel 250? Probably do-able, if you respect the weight of the Sabre. It's about a 270 lb increase. If you've been riding the 250 awhile, there's things you're used to that you're not going to be able to do at first with the Sabre. You'll have to get used to the bigger bike's tip-over point, it's turn-in behavior, how much braking lead time you need, etc. If you approach it with a little basic respect for it's weight, and are conservative at first. you should be OK. The power curve on v-twins is usually pretty predictable, so aside from enjoying the increased acceleration and torque, there won't be much to learn differently there.

I went from the 250 to 600 with no issue at all. When I went from 600 to 750, I had issues - exactly what jstark says - I guess I described it as some "ungainly moments". After a while, it was fine, tho.
Everyone was extremely surprised that I had the issue at 600 to 750 - which was only 60 pounds. BUT is was 1 gear more, longer, "chubbier", and from chain to shaft.
I think you will have some "moments" from a 250 to 1100. As long as you know it's going to happen, you can be careful for it.
I NEVER even came close to dropping the 250 or the 600. I dropped the 750 3x before 300 miles. Got all done with that and have been dropless since!

No, I don't think that is too much of a jump.
The Saber 1100 doesn't have a whole lot of horsepower for an 1100, and for a cruiser, it isn't very heavy. You are just as fine getting one of those as you are getting a Suzuki C50 or M50.
Like any new bike, take your time with it... but I don't think it is a problem at all.

Wait, are you talking about the V-twin Sabre or the V4 Sabre because they are two very different animals. The V4 Sabre is a freaking monster. It is the same engine as the V4 Magna that could rip through the 1/4 mile in the 10 second range. The V-twin Sabre is much more benign
