Kill it. It's a stupid idea. Yay, it's light out for my morning drive ( ), that's totally worth getting home from work in the dark.

Funny - I was just thinking about this!

My body cannot seem to adjust. I wake at 5am, and generally go to ged about 10:30-11 pm. BUT since the time change, I have been unable to keep my eyes open much past 9:00pm, and waking up at like 4:00.

I find I am tired as he((.

By next week or so, I will be driving to work and coming home in the dark.

I always notice by the time it is mid-January, it is light upon leaving work at 5. So I am looking forward to then.

Okay - I am really looking forward to March 21 when it's SPRING!!

I've been fortunate enough to live in AZ for the last 25 yrs. We don't follow that Daylight Savings nonsense, although we do have to keep track of everyone else's time changes (i.e. business communications).

Frankly, we've already got way too much daylight (and mind wilting heat) in the summer. We don't need any more.

They should cram it - and hard! It's not like it can literally alter how much daylight there is, but rather it alters when we get to enjoy our daylight. I'm with ZooTech - who cares how dark it is in the morning - everything is a mental fog anyhow.

What I don't understand is that this year they adjusted the dates when the time change takes effect - a couple weeks earlier for the "Spring Forward" and a couple of weeks later for the "Fall Back". If they can do that, then why not eliminate it altogether? Oh yeah - who the heck are "they" anyway?!

Cheers,
Loonette

Daylight savings time - well, I would think its to have the optimum amount of daylight in order to continue daily activities and still get all kinds of things done, daily, during each day, in the daylight.............. :frusty:

Here in JPN we don't do daylight savings. In the summers, the comes up at 4am and stays later in the evening. During the winter, like now, the sun rises around 7am and sets around 4pm. Don't ask me how or why and I'm sure latitude has a lot to do with it. Weather and clouds greatly affect the light.

I can't say either way whether I like it or not. I'm glad I don't have to adjust for 1hr twice a year. Then again, that all kicks in for payback when we travel back to the States - traveling 10-15hrs sux, not to mention the week after.

If the effort is put into always trying to keep up with the sun, then wake up with the sun and go down with the sun, but those times will continuously change throughout the year, you'll be waking up earlier or later, as per the daylight savings time "plan". Funny thing is, it doesn't matter, with or without daylight savings you still lose daylight because you can't control the sun or the seasons.

Wasn't daylight savings time introduced to help farmers? They get more daylight for growing crops.
