Hi im just wondering if that bike is good for a beginner. I've ridden before (dirtbikes) and am interested in simply riding around town and the occasional (short) freeway jaunt. Also, as my experience grows, I may be interested in trying some canyon carving.

yes, at 40 bhp and 28.9 ft lbs, it's not a bad choice for a 1st bike.
i love that bike. i wish to own one some day. supermoto looks very fun as well.

It is a great first bike. I seriously considered it, but simply couldn't justify spending more money on a toy than I have on hand. It is also way more capable than what I need to fulfill the mission objectives I was looking for, so I bought something smaller and 1/4 the price. The DRZ400SM, or something like it, will probably be my next bike. Check around, in many areas there is DRZ400SM roadracing going on.

It's "stunt machine", in my opinion

In my country all owners of DRZ 400 SM do a wheelie and endo on every occasion

There's no such thing as a "stunt machine". There are motorcycles, people who ride motorcycles, and idiots.

+1 except for maybe that one new BMW thats built for stunting but even then, its the rider that makes the bike do stunts, not the bike that makes the rider. . .

When I said "stunt-machine" I want to say:
- people who used this bike always do a wheelies, stoppies and other tricks.
