Deal's Gap Trip

#1 Unread post by Chris8187 »

Hey, I'm going to Deal's Gap for the first time in May from the 14th-20th. I thought I'd just post this in case you guys would like to make it a group event. It would be cool to meet people on the forums. I'm posting now because hotels and stuff fill up pretty fast. I personally am staying at the two wheels inn.

Also to those who have been there before, how have you enjoyed it down at Deal's Gap, and what were your experiences like?

was there at the beginning of october and stayed at the two wheel inn. pretty cool place - the owners are super friendly and you even get a garage for your bike. right now the parking lot is gravel - they installed metal plates in the ground for your kick stand. these people thought of everything.

don't know if you're planning on spending the whole week at deal's gap or if some of your week is riding to/from. the tail of the dragon tends to really crowd up on the weekends, so if you can, plan to ride during the week.

i really enjoyed the ride. took it easy the first time through and pushed it a bit more the second. dragged the floor boards a few times... can't wait to do it again...

there's a lot of other riding around there, like the cherohala skyway. i didn't get to do much riding out there as i was on a tight schedule. the next time out, i plan on spending a few more days...

anyway - enjoy the riding...

Sounds wicked!

It sure is great at the end of a days ride to locate a motorcycle friendly place to bed down for the night.

I'd say it would be a 'must do' ride by every motorcyclist over there.
I'd sure like to get my Harley Street-Rod around those corners!

Ahhh....so many roads....eh?

Thanks for the write up.... ;)

Yea, I'm going to be there for the whole week, so I plan on doing other roads as well. I'm also staying at the two wheel inn. I have heard good things about them, and I'm glad you back it up with your experience.

Highway 28 to Franklin is very nice - lots of curves, but not as extreme as the tail. You take it from Robbinsville to a few small towns.

As far as the tail, we did best riding it before everyone got up, then went elsewhere, then came back in the afternoon, and waited until the "flocks" took off.

'twas a great time.
