I`ve read all the things about a beginner and sport bikes, but this is an older bike, how hard do you think it would be to learn on it. I was looking for a doner to fix up my V45 magna and i got offered a really good deal on a V45 interceptor so im thinking of just getting that, $600 for a good running bike, its been sanded and primed just needs paint. let me know what you guys think

at 80 bhp and 51.6 torque... most people here are gonna say it's not a good choice for a 1st bike.
also, are you a big guy? bec that interceptor is 533.5 lbs. i'd be more worried about it having too much weight rather than too much power. but if you're a strong guy then weight won't be an issue.
$600 for a old running bike sounds good, but like others have told me... it's only worth it if you're gonna be doing your own work.
good luck.

I don't know about the power of your interceptor, but I do know that 533 pounds is manageable.
I learned on my V-Star which is about 503 pounds. I'm not exactly a musclebound person.
CR is comparing the weight of your bike that you want to the weight he likes.

533.6lbs is like a middleweight for a cruiser. it's not a big deal i agree.
but for a top heavy sporty bike like the interceptor... 533.6lbs is pretty heavy. plus, it'll be even considerably heavier w/ a full tank of gas.

The V45 in the Interceptor is essentially the same engine in my Magna. While it is very powerful, the power comes on gradually and isn't peaky like modern day Sport Bike engines. If you can handle the weight you'll be fine.
My bike is about 540-550lbs and I only weight about 145-150lbs. The weight is low on my bike, but I dont' know how it is on the Interceptor. BTW, the weight listed for the bike is the wet weight. I can't imagine the Interceptor weight much more or less than that.

BTW, verify if it has the top end oiling mod. Apparently the older V4 engines had a problem of oil starvation in the cams would get ground down prematurely. Just something to look out for.

It depends on your insuarance company. For example, State Farm doesn't care what type bike it is, they only go by engine size.
