Lincoln Iron Horse Motorcycle club to host toy run Dec. 9
Friday, December 1, 2006 - The Lincoln Journal - lincolnjournalonline.com
The Lincoln Iron Horse Motorcycle Club will host its fourth annual Lincoln County Christmas Toy Run from American Legion Post 194 to the Lincoln County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) on Peachtree Street Saturday, December 9, beginning at 10 a.m.
The toys and proceeds from the event will benefit the foster children in the community.
The streets that comprise the route for the Toy Run will be closed as motorcyclists ride their bikes, piled high with toys and other presents, through town. The toys will then be delivered to the DFCS office with a flourish.
All road-worthy vehicles - motorcycles, pickup trucks, cars, and tractors - are invited to take part in the event. The entry fee is a new toy.
The group will be escorted from the legion post, located off of the Augusta Highway, to DFCS by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.
Following the Toy Run, door prizes will be given away and there will be a 50/50 drawing on the lawn in front of the DFCS office.
"We encourage all motorists to take part in the Toy Run - there are many children in the county who need our help at this time of the year," said Paul Rentz, one of the organizers of the Toy Run.
"We also urge non-riders to participate in the event by donating toys to this worthy cause, by taking part in the 50/50 drawing, and by coming out to cheer the riders on during the Toy Run."
Motorcyclists and the public at large may drop off unwrapped toys and other gifts at the DFCS office from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. the day of the Toy Run.
