I'm thinking of buying motorcycle tire spoons/levers 'cuz one tire slow leaks along the bead and I want to sand down the rim to get a airtight seal...
but I would never consider doing car tires - just wondering if mc tires are as hard to deal with as car tires ??
or maybe i'll just shoot some fix-a-flat into the tire.

Even with a tire machine it can be a pain in the "O Ring" to get tires off and on. You're better off taking your tires and wheels to a bike shop and having them do the work for you.

It's not terribly hard if you have someone show you the right technique.
(I don't think I could adequetly describe the technique here. Sorry.)

Google in the video section for changing a sport bike tire. There's a great video that shows you the whole thing step by step.

good luck cleaning up the huge mess it'll leave on your rim the next time you change your tire.

The shop I work at has a $10 surcharge if we have to change a tire with slime in it.

It's not too tough to do, with the right tools and some know-how. Best way to get started is to have someone show you, of course. Failing that, you can try learning from:

http://users.net1plus.com/holbrook/tireeqpt.htm

Also, I doubt some of that slime will fix a leaking bead, so I wouldn't waste my time on trying.

Once you've done it a couple times it's a fairly simple process. However, sanding down a rim to fix a bead seal... that's going to be FREAKING tough.

I dont know about MC tires, but car tires are cake.
Good luck though! And be careful with that rim... sanding it down and all sounds like quite a job to me. Good luck though!
