Vance and Hines

Have ordered a set of straight shots for my Kawasaki vn1500 d2 as the downpipe from the front pot has cracked inside (backfires when shutting off power). Have been advised that does not need rejetting, but a good move is to fit a hypercharger, although not essential.
Does anyone have experience of fitting a hypercharger and not fitting one, and what the difference is?

I haven't put a hypercharger on any of my bikes but over the years I have put high flow exhaust systems and high flow intake systems on a number of my Harleys'. I found that I had to re jet all of the bikes with carburetors and the last one, a 2006 Harley Dyna fuel injected, I had to remap the fuel injection system. I did this by installing a Power Commander that can be adjusted by hooking it up to a computer or by manual settings on the unit.

By fitting fitting the Vance & Hines straight shots and the Hyper charger you will get a higher volume of airflow through your engine which without re jetting will leave it running lean. Proper jets in the carburetor(s) along with the exhaust and intake modifications will give you a substantial increase in horse power and torque. Hope this helps a little. Cheers, Rydr

Pipes due to be delivered Thursday 7th December 06. Have emailed vance and hines and they have forwarded me to Dynojet. Await info on rejetting. Looking forward to changing the pipes.
I don't know if its the exhaust fumes from the bike or the diesel fumes from the lorries on the M4, when travelling between lanes of near stationery traffic, but my head has been thumping the last few days.
Still despite the dark the wet and the wind - it sure is more fun than the old Volvo 240.
Will post a photo when the pipes are on.
