The Big Chill

Just wondering how many riders that live in the cold, snowy, northern provinces, states and countries take their beloved motorcycles south in the winter to warmer climates for a riding holiday in the sun?

Hopefully the sun.

I was in Southern California in January a few years ago and it rained for four days straight. It wasn't a problem for me as I live on Vancouver Island and we get lots of rain there but the locals weren't to happy.

Ride safe, Rydr

Nope, i stick it out. The XR200R is a pain to ride in the snow and ice, but at least i get to ride.

I ride my BMW F650GS year round but then it only snows a couple of times a year out here on Vancouver Island. I just don't ride the Harley year round up here.

I ride year round here in Vancouver unless it is icy or snowy.

Which happens to be this week.

Bite Me!

Uuhh, I mean.... due to a misspent youth, I can't drive anyplace 'sunny' in the winter. It's -25 and the roads are covered in ice/snow/drifts..... but it doesn't bother me, nope, not me, not me.... not me.....

I usually ride around all year long except when there is over an inch of snow on the ground.

I should look into getting a proper off roading bike like a BMW 650 Dakar, a Ural Gear Up or this maybe for snow riding: http://www.mp3.piaggio.com/index_eng.html

The scooter with 3 wheels but snow tires aren't available yet.

Someone else I know who lives in the Nelson area regularly tells me to "Bite him".
LOL

He has snow from about November to June.

We are hoping for a vacation in the FLA Keys. We are really hoping to be able to pull it together and bring the bikes. We do not have a trailer, and we aren't ready to buy.

We want the one that's like a little efficiency camper in front, and the "garage" for two bikes in rear, and it's a pull behind. We saw one recently for about $15,000. Not!

It is not practical to ride down...

Can't afford a trailer right now? Why don't you rent one for the trip... ???
