Spark Plug Tips

I can't get the spark plugs off of my dad's bike. Numerous times I've tried a dash of WD40 and they still won't come off. Unless I change them, the bike won't start. He just had it fixed this summer too. Any tips?

Maybe Liquid Wrench?

get a socket that has a long shank, fits perfectly and a lifetime warrenty, a torque wrench and a couple brute's to push!

Have you tried tightening it a little more and then removing it? sounds dumb but it usually works with a tight nut.

Are you sure you need to take them out?
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Let those things soak overnight, it takes time for the oil to penetrate the threds, also, a good liquid wrench is better than water displacement atempt number 40. If this doesnt work, you should use an impact wrench. You dont need a torque wrench and I hope your not seriously considering drilling them out.

mmm PB Blaster is better than wd40 or Liquid Wrech. Try that.

Also use the proper socket for the plug and as long a break bar on the end of the ratchet that you can manage. You don't break a bolt loose with a torque wrench. That's a good way to abuse a tool that not intented to do that job.

+1 Never use a torque wrench for losening bolts... period.

Use a breaker bar... or if you don't have one... have health care, brave, and have no fear for doing less than smart things... or have a gullible friend, get a wrench and a long pipe :laughing:
