Just going through my owners manual and I came across a small section called Noise Control Sytem (Australia Only). So I was just curious as to what regs you have down there to noise and on bikes if it is separate unit or they just restrict the exhaust.

G'day
Australia has this thing called noise limits, I think it is now somewhere around 92 db. Or it could even be lower now.
In New South Wales (NSW) they have introduced a system where the muffer has to have a sticker showing the noise level. if your ride doesn't have one they can book you for. In fact, all aftermarket systems must show the same type of sticker.
I own a BMW K1100 with a stock exhaust and want to change to a Staintune (BMW approved replacement) but Staintune don't make them any more due to this f***ing stupid rule.
Hope some else can reply to this with more info than I have.
Ride safe

It WAS 92 Db, my bike broke the law then! but now (in VIC) its gone down to 90!!!, my muffler is screwed and so its really really really REALLY loud!, and i cant afford a new muffler, as aftermarket stuff dosent fit my bike because its so old (1984) so i need to buy genuine Yamaha parts, and a new muffler is $350 and with my $10 a week pocket money i dont think i'll be buying one soon!!!
