Two long years

I joined this forum back when I had made contact with my background investigator for the Department of Corrections.

Finally after two long years of testing and waiting, I received a call on Friday to report to academy in Sacramento on December 11th. They also advised me I would be placed in full time status immediately following graduation and would be reporting to the prison in Chino, CA.

Chino is only about forty minutes from where I am now, so I will be able to see my 15month old son alot more than if I had been ordered to a prison up North.

Feels so damn good. My paychecks will triple from what I get now. And I finally get to start working towards a pension. Thirty years I can retire with 90 percent of my highest paid year!

Way to go and congratulations.

That's a good deal on the pension. Most Government positions average your best 5 years of regular pay (overtime not included) and you get a maximum of 70% for your pension. That's based on an accrual of 2% per year of service so you have to put in 35 years to get the full 70%.

Congrats on getting through the drawn out process. It'll be good to get settled with a routine and some money. We're both starting to do that same thing.

Take care!
