It is so dang cold in this house. Did you know that in Japan they build houses with NO INSULATION so the spirit of the dead can escape the house??
THEY PROBABLY DIED IN THE HOUSE FROM HYPOTHERMIA!
Oh sure, spirits can go through drywall and 2x4s and pipes but they can't go through fiberglass insulation.
Anyhow, me, the cat and dog all sleep huddled downstairs so I don't have to run heaters in several rooms. Oh, there is no central heating and cooling, they have individual wall units. That's all fine and dandy if the cost of kerosene, prpane and electricty was cheap!
Hey, let's all build houses with no insulation, it only snows 6mths our of the year!

We finally got our gas connected at my house, we didn't have heat for a long time. It made it really hard to get out of bed for work in the morning.

Gf did her nightly ritual last night, which is, 1. Ac on. 2. Box fan 3 feet from the bed On. 3. Steals my covers and complains about how cold she is.
And its 22 F outside.
Cheers cold folks. I'm shiverin right along with ya.

We have ahd the house amost 9 years...My house is about 100 years old - my walls are wood wainscoting, wood ceilings. We have a cast iron woodstove in the living room - right in the middle of the house. There is no furnace. We took out the majority of the baseboards, and use oil filled radiators when we aren't going to be home for the fire. Anyway, when I get home from work, I usually bring in a few armloads of wood, and get it cranking.
When we first moved in, we found there was no insulation between the wainscoting and the clapboard outside. We insulated the livnig room...a few weeks ago, hubby insulated what surrounds the bathroom. The only basement is about 5x8 under the bathroom (which was only put in in 1980 or so) and the ground sends cold air in...
We think we have a ghost that turns on the heat in the kitchen. Maybe I can send my ghost to Japan to find some heat for ya, Shorts

Candy, I don't think we'd need another ghost, though if it brings heat it can kick out the current lazy one we have

I've been hearing things downstairs lately, and at random when I'm shifting my glance or turning my head, I think I see the head of the ghost from The Grduge. That's great! It traveled all the way up from Tokyo to hassel us here.

I've seen some cold winters where I live. Back in '78 we had a recorded temp of -66 F and that was dead calm.
It usually hits -25 F for a couple weeks straight then warms up to 0 for a month then the onset of spring comes with temps in the twenties and thirty's. Mid summer will hit up to 105 F. That is quite a swing in temps from winter to summer. My house is well insulated and have never had a pipe freeze up.
The scenery and hunting and fishing is what keeps me around here and when I'm not cruising in the summer, I'm snowmobiling in the winter.
