Hey guys, my name's Mike from Long Beach, CA

I just got my motorcycle license about a month ago, and before that, I've never really ridden.

Since then, I've bought a used 99' Yamaha V-Star 650cc Classic just so I can get more riding experience.

I've been checking out some cruisers at the local dealer, and when I saw the Suzuki M109R, and it was love at first sight

Now all I do is daydream about that sexy piece of machinery

If all goes well, I plan to buy a brand new M109R sometime in the middle of next year, around my birthday. It's hard to resist the temptation to buy one right now though

Btw, I'm also a motorcycle cop (see my avatar) who just recently graduated from police motorcycle school. I don't let that get to my head though... I know that I'm still a new rider and I can use all the saddle time I can get

I'm also thinking of taking an MSF course next month (even though I already have my motorcycle license and been thru police motorcycle school) just for insurance purposes. I got a quote for an M109 from my current insurance company (Geico) and if I had the MSF certificate, my 6 mo. premium would drop almost $100. The MSF course would pay for itself, not to mention it's probably good training anyway.

Anyway, I've been browsing some of the threads here and it seems like there's a wealth of knowledge to be had.

That's pretty darn cool! I saw a fairly decent moto-cop movie once - "Electra Glide in Blue" with Robert Blake. It's kind of dated, but near the end of the movie there's a really funny bike chase scene with a bunch of hippies.

AAAHHHH a cop!!! Run and Hide!!! J/K with you... Welcome to the forums, and congrats on graduating the bike academy, I've heard it's extremely rigorous. You might want to actually call insurance companies and get quotes, ask them personally if your academy certificate counts as a safety course, it just might. And wow... An M109R is a big beast, be careful on it! (As if the cop bikes aren't.) Again, and have fun on the forums.

Oh cool we have a motorcycle officer! Congratulations on graduating, and starting your riding career. Its funny, just a few hours ago I was wondering if we had any police on the forums! Nice to know we do now.

i grew up in Inglewood in the south bay so i misss So. Cal!
i went home and was surprised how much LB expanded and how different downtown LB looks!
I ride a 650 classic and really enjoy it.
I;ve test ridden Harleys too and enjoy them as well.
Get some additional experience on your motorcycle, save up your cash and get that MC that you want!

Honest, ociffer, stick with what you have for now. That big Zuke is a handfull for a beginner. With the miles you'll get on patrol, you'll gain experience fast.
