Theoretical Rider

Hello everybody,

In six months I will be returning to the US to start college and as I've been making my preparations a thought keeps popping up, transportation. True, I don't need anything more than the citybus or the occasional lift from a friend but I'm beginning to think that buying a bike might be worth the money/time to learn to ride/risk. I decided to join the forum so I could gather information and make an informed decision when I do buy a bike rather than rushing into things and into the ER.

But thats not going to be for quite some time, most likely not for a year at the soonest because I still have to get settled in and see if I'm going to be able to afford a bike + insurance. But in the mean time I figure I'll lurk and ask questions from time to time.

So who am I?

I was born in Santa Rosa California but I moved to southern Mexico two years ago and have six more months left before I return to the California to start college (culinary arts).

I like a wide range of music ranging from anne murray to 80's alternative rock, to blues, to hardcore industrial.

I speak English, Spanish, and am learning French. I hope to be trilingual before I return to the US.

I'm just a really relaxed guy in general.

Strangely enough I like KMFDM's lighter songs like "Ready to Blow (Dwarves Mix)" or "Real Thing" the most out of what I've heard from them. I'm a sucker for synthpop by the way (beborn beton and the like). By hardcore industrial I meant more like powernoize. "Play Dead" by combichrist would be a good example.

Welcome and good idea. If you have any questions feel free to ask, and you'll get a million answers, many of which won't make any sense...yet.

Trust me, I learned that whole "When riding over gravel NO FRONT BRAKE!" thing the HARD WAY!

I say save up a small bit of money starting now. Then once you're a bit settled...take the MSF course. If you like it during the course...you'll be hooked on a bike, no turning back. :)
