Bikers’ charity tin run
Friday, December 8, 2006 - Times and Star - timesandstar.co.uk
BIG-HEARTED bikers braved winter gales to complete their annual Tin Run to help elderly people and animals in need this Christmas.
About 40 riders of the Motorcycle Action Group took part in the annual run from Keswick to Whitehaven, collecting hundreds of tins of food, preserved goods and pet food en route.
The Tin Run also had collection points in Cockermouth and Maryport, before finishing at the Lowther Arms pub at Hensingham, in Whitehaven.
The bikers were able to hand over about six boxes full of pet food to Animal Concern, which is inundated with unwanted pets during this time of year, and 15 boxes of tinned food to Age Concern.
They go to make up hampers for elderly people who are alone and in need this Christmas.
