I am trying to get the turn signal switch off of a parts bike and can't get screws to budge. Anyone have any suggestions or hints that might help? Thanks!

If soaking them down with penetrating oil and sitting for a day or so does not break them loose enough, your best bet is to buy an impact driver. It might cost $30-$50, but worth it if you spend a lot of time working on older bikes.

If the housing is metal, it may have thread locker on it. Get a plastic handle screwdriver (not a rubber handled one) and place it on the screw and give it a few taps. This may create enough vibration to jar the thread locker loose, if this is the problem.

Spray a little hint of PB blaster on the screws. Then once you get it out, clean it up.

One screw loose!

Sometimes putting liquid bees wax on it and letting it sit a couple hours will push the screw out a bit or loosen it off some. Worth a shot at any rate.

Impact drivers are your friend though.

get a phillips screwdriver adapter for your 1/2 or 3/8-in ratchet and it will get you out of fixes many many times...personal experience

PB Blaster is the greatest for stuck bolts/screws. Just be careful not to strip the screw. That will ruin your day quick.

Problem solved!

Well, the problem has been solved. That screw was not going to budge so I ended up drilling it out. But get this! Two different people told me that the turn signal switch was bad on the bike I am fixing. I was talking to a guy that really got excited about my fixing up an old HONDA and as it turns out, he is a great mechanic. I took my bike to him. He checked out the switch and said "This will be easy!" He sprayed the switch with electrical contact cleaner, cleaned it up, dried it out, put it back on and BINGO- I have turn signals! Thanks for all of the tips. Hope you all have a Wonderful Holiday!
