Shavings in the Oil

01 Volusia, just over 5500 miles, with shavings in the oil... Big uh oh, I'm just wanting to know how big exactly... Can anyone tell me? I run stock everything, with ASMoil full synthetic, 91+ octane gas. I do ride hard, but that shouldn't be causing it. Only thing I can think of is that sometimes when I downshift to 1st, it clunks a little, as if the syncs are off... Thanks for any help!

First oil change? Shavings happen when parts are breaking in, that's why the first oil change is normally after only a small number of miles.

Well, i stay stupidly far away from snythetic oil. When you first have your bike you should stay regular for like say, 6000-10000 miles then switch to synthetic. I guess new bikes are made for synthetic.. your first oil change should be around 600 miles, TO GET THE SHAVINGS OUT. It's like running the engine in a sandpaper bath of oil. I bet your bike is fine though. I'm pretty sure all bikes clunk when downshifting to 1st, unless your stopped, or you blip the throttle and match RPM's. If it cluncks hard, then your going too fast to be shifting into 1st.
well thats enough blabbing.....

Thanks, but unfortunately it's not the first oil change, it's more like it's third...
